Why did I join HBSA?
Initially, I joined hoping to find a community within ASU that felt genuinely meaningful and supportive, both professionally and personally. As I became more involved and surrounded myself with like minded members, I realized that the value of this organization extended far beyond what many other campus organizations offer. What makes HBSA special is not only its strong sense of community, but also the numerous professional and social opportunities it fosters semester after semester. Having had the opportunity to serve and give back to this organization has been incredibly rewarding, and I am deeply grateful for all that it has provided and continues to provide me.

Why did I join HBSA?
Throughout my time in ASU, I have had the privilege of serving in different leadership positions and being in other associations such as the Next Generation Service Corps, Supply Chain Management Association and Be Leader Foundation. Looking back at it now, being in those organizations taught me valuable lessons in how I view leadership, where when people advocated for me to join HBSA, I was able to join with a culmination of different experiences. Prior I had gone to meetings throughout my freshman year, but never stuck around due to lacking my own sense of identity within the experience that is college and how different HBSA used to be. HBSA had just gotten out of COVID and the club had to take a different trajectory and build a new foundation that has resulted in exponential growth for the club. Nevertheless, It took time to find my footing as a junior, but in reality looking back now, it was meant to be this way. I was meant to find HBSA later in my college tenure, where I would not trade it for the world. Now, I literally cannot imagine my college experience without HBSA, making friends who I am so glad to have met, challenging my own perception of leadership and overall approach to event planning. One thing that keeps me around is helping foster the next generation of latino leaders, with so many people having amazing outlooks towards social advocacy and ideas they have for events. It is inspiring to see and seeing their like-valuedness motivates me to continue pushing my own perceptions of leadership. I hope to make this last semester one to never forget and to leave it all on the table, one last dance before I graduate alongside my peers and familia.

Why did I join HBSA?
I became a part of HBSA because I want to join an organization where professional development and building a familia were a priority. As a West Valley Campus Student, I wanted to broaden my connections across all different campuses and also get to experience what Tempe campus could be like. Luckily with HBSA, I was able to make lifelong friendships and also continue to learn new skills and knowledge. Aside from that, I also get to share my culture with students who are just like me.

Why did I join HBSA?
I became part of HBSA because I was looking for people with my same background and professional goals, but I found so much more. In a time when I felt like a small fish in a big ocean, I found a family in HBSA and people that I felt comfortable around that welcomed me with open arms, that pushed me to do and be greater, and people that inspired me to be a leader. HBSA has become my home in Tempe.

Why did I join HBSA?
I became a part of HBSA because it’s where I found the community and support I was looking for in my Freshman year. I immediately fell in love with how welcoming the environment was and it wasn’t long before I started finding those lifelong relationships. HBSA provides a mix of everything from professional development, networking opportunities, socials, and so much more and it’s what makes us so unique in my opinion. Aside from what I could gain from HBSA I also saw an opportunity to lead, contribute, and to help innovate the organization for future generations and seeing how much has been accomplished since I first joined has been incredibly motivating and I’m excited for future students to experience the same impact as me!

Why did I join HBSA?
What drew me to HBSA was the sense of community. I grew up in spaces that were largely Hispanic and Latino, so coming to ASU felt like a bit of a cultural shock at first. Asa first gen student, navigating college, internships, and the corporate world felt very new and unfamiliar. HBSA gave me a place where I could connect with people who share similar backgrounds, learn from others, and feel supported while figuring things out. Being surrounded by motivated and driven students made a big difference for me.

Why did I join HBSA?
After being involved with other organizations at W. P. Carey, I wanted to find a community where I could connect culturally and continue evolving both personally and professionally. HBSA welcomed me with open arms and gave me a familia I did not expect but am incredibly grateful for. It has provided meaningful professional opportunities as well as some of my closest friendships.

Why did I join HBSA?
When I transferred to ASU, I was looking for a group of people who shared my work ethic and goals. In HBSA, I found community, support, and the kind of motivation that doesn’t come from just being in class. Over time, that connection meant so much more. After serving on the executive board, I’ve seen firsthand how much intention and work goes into creating opportunities for our members. Being part of HBSA now means helping build and maintain a space where students can grow professionally, support one another, and feel represented. My passion for our community’s collective success and the people I’ve met along the way is what keeps me here.

Why did I join HBSA?
When first attending ASU, I wanted to find a place where community and similar professional goals were shared. After my first couple of meetings, it was no doubt that I had found some of my best friends and most meaningful connections. Witnessing my mentor be an exemplary leader pushed me to do so myself, wich eventually gave me the confidence to run for Executive Board. Overall, HBSA is my closest thing to home at ASU.

Why did I join HBSA?
I first joined HBSA because my friends invited me to a social event, and the environment was really welcoming. I became more involved and continued attending events and meetings because I was receiving a lot of value from the mentorship meetings and expanding my platform on campus through all the new connections I made. Being more involved with HBSA now will enable me to improve the mentorship program for the future. Overall, I believe that this organization does a great job of connecting students to opportunities and ASU’s community. It brings people together and makes you feel like you're a part of something really special. HBSA’s community has high expectations for everyone and is always there to offer a helping hand. If you're looking for an organization that helps you improve yourself and have long-term connections, this is the right place for you.

Why did I join HBSA?
As the very first person to pursue a college degree on both sides of my family, I felt lost entering ASU, but was soon met with the joy of the HBSA familia. HBSA was the representation I needed to continue with my college journey, and through it I found a community that not only brought joy into my life, but also encouraged me to grow personally, academically, and professionally. Alongside the HBSA familia I have been able to grow as a leader, create some of my favorite memories, and learn from some of the most genuine people I have ever met.

Why did I join HBSA?
I had always known about HBSA, but I didn’t start attending regularly until last year. After spending more time in the organization, I realized how much I had missed out in the previous years, from finding a real sense of community to discovering meaningful opportunities. Even in a short amount of time, being part of HBSA has been a blessing and has made my experience at ASU 10x more fulfilling.
