Why did I join HBSA?
During my Freshman year, I tested out a variety of clubs to see which would be best fit for me. As a first generation student living away from home for the first time, HBSA became a home away from home. I was welcomed from the get go and I really found myself through this organization. Although many clubs can provide professional development, not many can provide a community and support system like HBSA does. This ultimately became the reason why I became and remained a part of the organization

Why did I join HBSA?
I’ve always been interested in what HBSA represents. I love having a community where I can meet new people and form genuine friendships as well as share my culture with them. It’s also really exciting that I’m encouraged to grow professionally and have those same friendships become part of your support system.

Why did I join HBSA?
I joined HBSA because I wanted to be part of a club where I could interact with other Hispanics/ Latinos, make friends, and be part of the Hispanic community on campus. It can be hard to come into college and find friends with a similar background, and HBSA was the perfect place to find that. It is also a plus that many opportunities come from joining and being a part of HBSA.

Why did I join HBSA?
My freshman year I didn’t really do anything and found it hard to meet more people. Until I was invited by my friend Elizabeth to a meeting where I saw like-minded individuals, who I can relate to & grow as a person. Not only that but I could tell HSBA was very welcoming & felt as if I already knew some of the members when I joined.

Why did I join HBSA?
The reason I became part of HBSA is because I wanted to join a community of other Hispanics/Latinos at W. P. Carey. I wanted to be part of a community of individuals who had similar experiences as me.

Why did I join HBSA?
Entering college I knew that I wanted to surround myself with hispanics like me who shared the same values and culture because growing up where I lived there wasn’t much diversity. Immediately upon going to HBSA events, I found myself in an environment in which I relate a lot to and made very close friends quickly.

Why did I join HBSA?
Brenda Zamudio and Emma Gressler were huge advocates for me becoming a more active member of HBSA this past semester, having attended not many meetings throughout these past two years. However, this year has been a different experience, being able to connect on a deeper level with people within the club. .

Why did I join HBSA?
I became part of HBSA because I was looking for people with my same background and professional goals, but I found so much more. In a time when I felt like a small fish in a big ocean, I found a family in HBSA and people that I felt comfortable around that welcomed me with open arms, that pushed me to do and be greater, and people that inspired me to be a leader. HBSA has become my home in Tempe.

Why did I join HBSA?
I became a part of HBSA because I want to join an organization where professional development and building a familia were a priority. As a West Valley Campus Student, I wanted to broaden my connections across all different campuses and also get to experience what Tempe campus could be like. Luckily with HBSA, I was able to make lifelong friendships and also continue to learn new skills and knowledge. Aside from that, I also get to share my culture with students who are just like me.

Why did I join HBSA?
As a First-generation Hispanic freshman at ASU, I was determined to find a sense of community. I had always believed there weren’t many Hispanic or Latino students at this university, which left me unsure if I’d find “my people.” That belief changed the moment I discovered HBSA. Through this club, I’ve been able to meet a lot of individuals that not only share the same background as me, but they also share the same professional and personal goals. HBSA has been nothing but welcoming and amazing during the first semester of my college journey. It has made me feel like at home and like I have a new family here at ASU. HBSA truly is a place where I feel supported and motivated to thrive, and I’m excited to continue contributing and growing within this incredible community.

Why did I join HBSA?
I joined HBSA not only to surround myself with peers similar to myself, but as well to become further involved within my Hispanic community. The more events that I started attending and the more I began to be involved within HBSA, I not only learned that I was growing as an individual, but as well had developed encouraging and meaningful friendships.

Why did I join HBSA?
Coming to ASU as a first-generation student it was very easy to become lost in the magnitude of everything. After my freshman year I found myself feeling disconnected from my roots and started to really focus on finding a community where I could not only grow professionally but a place that felt like home. HBSA was this place. I was able to meet people that not only share the same culture as me but people that share the same professional and academic goals. I’ve made lifelong friendships and found a community that truly feels like home.

Why did I join HBSA?
I began my first semester at ASU this Fall 2024. My high school mentor had informed me about HBSA and I decided to do further research. I wanted to take advantage of living on campus, and become involved in as many organizations as I could. Ultimately, HBSA became my priority. Despite attending the first general meeting by myself, I felt welcomed and included. I was in search of friends and a community. HBSA offers that and so much more. I’m excited to grow and foster connections throughout my time in such an incredible organization.
