Why did I join HBSA?

I became part of HBSA because I was looking for people with my same background and professional goals, but I found so much more. In a time when I felt like a small fish in a big ocean, I found a family in HBSA and people that I felt comfortable around that welcomed me with open arms, that pushed me to do and be greater, and people that inspired me to be a leader. HBSA has become my home in Tempe.

Why did I join HBSA?

When joining HBSA, I immediately knew it was the organization for me. Since being involved, I have gained community and professional opportunities and support from my peers and mentor within. HBSA not only gave me familia, but developmental opportunities and educational growth.

Why did I join HBSA? 

Growing up I lived in a community where there was a lack of  hispanic presence. The only thing that kept me connected to my culture was my family enforcing it in my household. So when I got to ASU I knew this was my opportunity to find a hispanic community I always wanted to be a part of. I found HBSA on my first day of class as a freshman and it has been the most life changing experience since joining. Going into my senior year now, I can confidently say this organization has shaped me into the person I am today. I am forever thankful that HBSA welcomed me with open arms, and I owe all of my personal and professional successes to it.

Why did I join HBSA? 

When I transferred to ASU, I was looking for a community that matched the ambition, discipline, and mindset I wanted to surround myself with. Through the Hispanic Business Students Association, I found more than just an organization; I found people who push each other to grow professionally and personally. I’ve also built some of my closest friendships here. Serving on the executive board has shown me the intention behind every event, opportunity, and connection we create. HBSA is more than just general meetings or socials; it’s a community rooted in growth, culture, and collective success. What continues to keep me involved is the opportunity to give back to the same community that shaped my experience at ASU.

Why did I join HBSA?

I became part of HBSA because I was able to find a community of genuine people whom I could relate to personally and professionally. The organization has given me so much throughout my time at ASU, which is why I continue to show up and to try to give back. I believe that no other organization on campus has the passion and culture that we have. HBSA has not only helped me grow so much, but it has also given me the platform to help others, especially with leadership roles such as this one.

Why did I join HBSA?

I joined HBSA because I was seeking professional opportunities while staying connected to my community. However, I stayed because from the very first meeting, even though I attended by myself, I immediately felt welcomed and was able to build genuine connections. HBSA is unique because it offers both meaningful professional development and a strong sense of personal support, creating a space where members can grow and connect.

Why did I join HBSA?

I was introduced to HBSA when a friend invited me to attend a meeting with him. At first, I felt a little unsure because I didn’t know whether I would fit into the environment, especially as someone who is Asian and Hispanic. However, as soon as I walked in, I was welcomed with big smiles and kind people. Beyond that, I realized HBSA was a great opportunity to seek professional development while also exploring my career goals. To me, HBSA is a place where students can find growth, opportunities, and meaningful connections. That is why I am here: to help others achieve their goals and grow together.

Why did I join HBSA?

I became a part of HBSA because I wanted to become more involved on campus. ASU provides so many opportunities, and I felt I hadn't been taking advantage of them. That’s when I looked around and found HBSA. I decided upon HBSA because I felt it would allow me to grow in both a professional and social way. I introduced myself to HBSA through intramural sports, as that's how I felt most comfortable, and from there, that’s when I started going to the meetings.

Why did I join HBSA?

I joined HBSA because I was able to find a community that helps me both as a person and professionally. Through HBSA, I found a place like no other and made some of my closest friends. One thing that really stood out to me was being surrounded by people who share similar backgrounds, connections, and culture, which made me feel at home even when I’m far away from my family. HBSA has given me the strength and motivation to keep pushing myself and continue finding new opportunities.

Why did I join HBSA?

I became a part of HBSA because it was the first organization that made me genuinely believe in my own potential to create something greater than myself. Finding a community that truly supports you is both rare and powerful, and that is something I came to deeply appreciate over my two years here. That experience is what grew my commitment and passion for this organization. I am wholeheartedly invested in HBSA's goals and initiatives, and I firmly believe that this club can create meaningful and lasting impact for every individual it touches

Why did I join HBSA?

​I was encouraged to join HBSA through a friend's recommendation. As an intimidated transfer student wanting to help myself in whatever way I could to integrate into ASU's environment, I knew I had to take initiative and put myself out there. HBSA, since welcoming me with open arms, has provided me with the community that I’ve been looking for; it makes my university experience so much more exciting, engaging, and meaningful.

Why did I join HBSA?

I became a part of HBSA at first because the tabling event worked on me and pushed me to go to the first social event of the year. The community really stuck to me, how it was almost like a family the way you can talk to anyone and have a genuine connection. Of course the opportunity of internships and professional development, but the people I’ve met is the key factor of why HBSA.

Why did I join HBSA?

I went to a few HBSA events and even though I consider myself pretty antisocial and I don't usually talk to a lot of people, everyone was so welcoming. Connecting with people who have the same ambition, like lions, was uplifting and motivating. It was competitive in a good way, and it made me realize if someone in HBSA can do it, so can I. Everything felt possible. I knew I wanted to get involved at the very first meeting when they announced the Chicago trip. I had never been on a plane before, and I remember thinking, wow, HBSA is in the big leagues. After seeing how professional the members were and how they carried themselves, I knew this was where I was going to grow.

Why did I join HBSA?

I became a part of HBSA because of the sense of community I felt like I was missing at ASU. I also added my business major halfway through my sophomore year, so I wanted to get more opportunities, such as networking and internships. At my first social, everyone was really friendly and talked to me, no matter if they had known me or not. This community fosters such a great atmosphere of familia and professionalism that it removes the initial fear you have when going into new spaces. HBSA gives everyone a space to make lifelong connections and incredible community growth.
